Op-Ed 101
I’ve worked in newspaper op-ed editing for more than a decade, editing politicians, authors, scientists and plenty of people whose work I’ve personally pulled out of the general submissions pile. This fast-moving one-hour presentation leverages all I’ve learned, and covers the basics for aspiring opinion writers:
— Components of the opinion pages
— How articles are selected
— The structure of an op-ed essay
— Improving the chance of getting published
— Strategies for establishing yourself as an author
This modular presentation can be adapted or augmented to meet the needs of a specific audience, such as college faculty, nonprofit leaders, activists or business leaders. It can also be delivered in-person or in a live webinar.
